There are so many things happening in the world that we just cannot ignore! This things seem so strange, so unreal, so evil but for so many it is a reality.
This particular case is one where kids are beaten, thrown away and left for death because there community believe they are witches. They are accused of outlandish things such as bringing AIDS to the community!
It pains my heart to see these children have no advocates. They are accused by their own family, the community and even spiritual leaders! Once a child is labelled as a witch they become prey for violence. The community is afraid of them and the community harm these kids as self defense!
I canot believe it! This is mob mentality at it extreme. All it takes is one spiritual leader to point out a kid as a witch. What can we do as human beings. How can we defend these children?
I know issues like this are not unique to Nigeria. This is not just some isolated event either. People are being deceived by their ignorance and their trust. Some of these parents love their children and are just prey to unqualified, uneducated leaders who use their influence to harm their society.
We have got to rise up. We must educate ourselves to the world around us. We cannot just settle in our own homes and become comfortable with our possession. We cannot claim to be good, caring idividuals and continue to ignore the world around us.
